  • 7 Eleven

Seven Eleven is one of important things that i really want to talk about. In Taiwan, 7 eleven is a thing that i really need to explain, because for us, french, a thing like this is very original. So what is Seven Eleven ?

7-Eleven (or 7-11) is an international chain of convenience stores that operates primarily as a franchise.3.1 In this stores, you can find everything you want, the size of the stores are under 100m2, and you can find it at every corner.

    • China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates

    • Denmark, Norway, Sweden

    • Canada, Mexico, United States, Australia

Taiwan had 5000 7-Elven, which means that it is the fourth bigger market for 7-Eleven. In Taipei, it is very impressive because, you can find one every 100 metters.Seven & I(Japanese holding which own the 7- Elevens) was the fifth largest retailer in the world in 2013, with 35,000 stores in approximately 100 different countries.

For Exemple; we have got a 7-Eleven in front of our flat. So if something miss in the appartement, if we need water, cakes, eggs, shampoo, you can have everything you want at every moment. If you want to buy some meals, as we do sometimes, they sell some meals and warm it with the micro ways. That is it important to say is that even those stores are always open, and have all kind of things, the price are the same as a super market. For us, this kind of store are so practicle, and i know that i will miss it in France.

  • Yuan Ze University

Yuan Ze University was build in 1989 and is based in Taoyuan in Taiwan. It was fouded by Yu-Ziang Hsu. Currently Yuan Ze has five colleges including the Colleges of Engineering, Informatics, Management, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Electrical and Communications Engineering. There are over 9,000 students with a 2:1 ratio between undergraduate and graduate students on campus. Jin-Fu Chang, is the Yuan Ze University President. Located in the south west of Taipei, in Taoyuan, which means that the university is not far away from the international airport of Taipei, Taoyuan. With my other four romanes, we decide to live in the heart of Taipei, so with Louis, my roomate (the 2 others, study in an other university in Taipei), we have to take the métro, and after a train. More precisely, when our courses begin at 9pm, we have to live the appartement at 7h30. It's difficult, but we only have courses on Monday and wednesday, and we préfère do that an live in Taipei, than stay more in my bed the tuesday and wednesday morning if i lived at Taiyuan. For exemple, every tuesday, i live my appartement at 7h30 and come back to it at 22h30 : Hard day yeah !

The campus has 7 buildings, a sport ground, a pool, a gym center, a dormitory, restaurants and some shops. The campus is a little city, and its pretty huge. This is the building where we have every courses, management building.

    Yuan Ze University

I have 4 courses : Investments, International finance, Consumer Behaviour, and brand Management. More to this, i have 2 hours of chinese by week, the most difficult thing I ever do. Concernant the over courses, i think that the level is not so high. When i come to Taiwan, i really expected that Taiwanese will be hard worker, very concentrante all during the courses and strict. It is not like that. The students come late, with food, and use their cellphone in front of the teacher, the atmosphère is very cool, and we feel very confortable. You choose your courses, so if you are not interested, you drop it and that's more easy because all the students are concerned.

After working and watch the taiwanese, my impression is that they are good workers, but they do not have the same way of thinking as us. For example they are more imature, it is impressive how they can be at 22, they do not seems interested by the rest of the world. I really feel more mature than them even i am 2 years old less. I think it comes from their éducation and the high school, boys and girls are separated, and so, they are very shy, it is difficult for them to take the talk when they are in a group. When the teacher ask a question in class, it is always a foreigner student who answer to him because the Taiwanese do not want to talk. So with this kind of thing, i do not have some taiwanese friend, i have met a lot of exchange students from finland, germany, indonesia, india who become my friends. It does not matter, i really enjoy to learn in another country, and i think that this experience give me a lot of benefits.

  • Tchang Kaï-chek

Chiang Kai-shek was a Chinese military and political leader who led the Kuomintang (Chinese Nationalist Party) for five decades and was head of state of the Chinese Nationalist government between 1928 and 1949.

Chiang Kai-shek (also known as Jiang Jieshi) was born on 31 October 1887 in Zhejiang, an eastern coastal province of China. At the age of 18 he went to military training college in Japan. He returned to China in 1911 to take part in the uprising that overthrew the Qing Dynasty and established a Chinese republic. Chiang became a member of the Chinese Nationalist Party (known as the Kuomintang or KMT), founded by Sun Yat-sen.

After Sun's death in 1925, Chiang became leader of the KMT. He spearheaded the Northern Expedition which reunified most of China under a National Government based in Nanjing. In 1928, he led the suppression of the Chinese Communist Party.

Chiang oversaw a modest programme of reform in China but the government's resources were focused on fighting internal opponents, including the Communists. In 1946, civil war broke out between the KMT and the Communists. In 1949, the Communists were victorious, establishing the People's Republic of China. Chiang and the remaining KMT forces fled to the island of Taiwan. There Chiang established a government in exile which he led for the next 25 years. This government continued to be recognised by many countries as the legitimate government of China, and Taiwan controlled China's seat in the United Nations until the end of Chiang's life. He died on 5 April 1975. despite the democratic constitution, the government under chiang was a one-party state, consisting almost completely of mainlanders; the "temporary provisions effective during the period of communist rebellion" greatly enhanced executive powers, and the goal of retaking mainland china allowed the kmt to maintain a monopoly on power and the prohibition of opposition parties. The first decades after the Nationalists moved the seat of government to the province of Taiwan are associated with the organized effort to resist Communism known as the "White Terror", during which about 140,000 Taiwanese were imprisoned for their real or perceived opposition to the KuomintangUnder Chiang, the government recognized limited civil and economic freedoms, property rights (personal[citation needed] and intellectual) and other liberties. Despite these restrictions, free debate within the confines of the legislature was permitted. Under the pretext that new elections could not be held in Communist-occupied constituencies, the National Assembly, Legislative Yuan, and Control Yuan members held their posts indefinitely. The Temporary Provisions also allowed Chiang to remain as president beyond the two-term limit in the Constitution. He was reelected by the National Assembly as president four times—doing so in 1954, 1960, 1966, and 1972.

    Tchang Kaï-chek and his memorial

The memory of KMT is even very present in Taiwan, and the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall (above) and Chiang Kai Chek mémorial hall (below), which have been inaugurated 5 years after the general's death. I really appreciate this place, it is near my home and i cross the huge place when i go to the gym or the swimming pool. It is a peaceful place even that it is a memorial of a bloody man, and the contrast between that is funny for me. The two red buildings at the right and left side are a concert hall and a theatre.

Kenting is a place really loved by the taiwanese, known as the Taiwanese Saint Tropez. Kenting offers a lot of activities, like Karting, Hiking, .. etc but the most important, Kenting has the most beautiful beach of the country, and during the night, the biggest street of the city, become a Night market, with restaurants, bars, which give a very sympathic atmosphere. I really enjoy this trip, for the beauty of landscape, visiting the island,  make parties, and the most important, meet so much different people and culture. In the house, there were 15 nationalities. French, indonesians, Germans, Swedish, Russian, Taiwanese, Belge, Danish, Swiss, people from Nicaragua, Chile, Hong Kong, Finland.. We talk a lot, and learn as well a lot !
